Two jet skiers disappeared into the water near Coney Island in Brooklyn on Thursday night after one of them fell into the water and the other dived in to save her, authorities said.
Rescuers searched the water for several hours near West 31st Street and Neptune Avenue for the 29-year-old woman and 44-year-old man after the two were reported missing at about 8 p.m., NBC News reports.
Two off-duty police officers and an off-duty Coast Guard member saw the man jump into the water after the woman fell in, NBC reports. One of the officers jumped in to look for them. He was later pulled from the water but there was no sign of the missing jet skiers.
Coast Guard crews, FDNY marine units and members of the NYPD marine, aviation and land units resumed the search early Friday morning.
