Second person charged in Calgary bus theft

The second man believed seen in footage from a Calgary Transit bus taken for a joyride has been arrested, police said.

Calgary Transit onboard surveillance captured the actions of two men after they allegedly lifted a city bus while it was idling outside a Calgary restaurant last Sunday morning.

Last night, 29-year-old Robert Allen Smith of Calgary was arrested at a Temple residence.

Smith has been charged with theft over $5,000, dangerous driving, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, operating a motor vehicle while unauthorized, operating a transit vehicle while unauthorized and two counts of failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

Smith was arrested without incident, according to police.

Another man was arrested earlier this week in connection with the incident.
