Seeing concert at Common? Pay up

The sound of hammering and clanking could be heard coming from the Halifax Common yesterday.

Setup has begun for the first of two major concerts on the grounds this summer.

“We set up a mini-city on that site downtown,” said Harold MacKay of Power Promotional Events.

Power Promotional Events is the promoter responsible for bringing Weezer and the Black Eyed Peas to the city.

MacKay said the setup will be similar to that of the 2006 Rolling Stones concert.

He said the back of the stage will be facing Citadel Hill.

“Nobody can see it for free this year, that’s one big difference,” he said.
