At a rally in Williamsburg this afternoon, State Senators Daniel Squadron and Martin Dilan joined advocacy group Riders Alliance to call on the MTA to conduct a Full Line Review of the G train.
Squadron has previously coordinated such reviews with the MTA for the F and L lines, resulting in more frequent, timely service and new cars on the F in 2009, and increased service on the L in 2012.
The MTA recently extended the G line permanently to Church Avenue, but Riders Alliance has tracked several issues frustrating G-riding straphangers, from poor communication regarding changes in service to a need for free out-of-system transfers with other nearby, unconnected train lines, such as the J/M/Z at Broadway, or the 9 subway lines at Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center, blocks from the Fulton Street G station.
“If there were a grade after F it would be G — and that’s what many riders would give the G train,” Squadron said.
