Sens win on Broadway

THE SKINNY: Ottawa fought back from an early one-goal deficit to score the next two goals of the contest, extending their winning streak to five consecutive games. The Senators are on a roll, winning nine of their last 10.

THE WINNER: Ryan Shannon netted his fifth marker of the season for the Senators just over a minute into the third period with a wrist shot over the glove of Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist.

NEW YORK BLACKOUT: Considering the Rangers could have improved their playoff status, they didn’t play a very inspired game, going 0-for-six on the power play.

ON THE ROAD: Including last night’s contest in New York, the Senators play their next six games on the road with stops in Carolina, Atlanta, Tampa Bay, Florida and Boston.

INTO THE 500 CLUB: Chris Neil skated in his 500th and 501st NHL games over the weekend against the Islanders and Rangers.

SICK BED TO SCORESHEET: Mike Comrie returned to the lineup after being sidelined with the flu the last couple of games and ended up scoring the Senators first goal of the game.

THE NEXT GAME: The Senators are in Raleigh on Wednesday to take on the Hurricanes.
