Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian — parents to the very adorable Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. — had some secret nuptials this week. And it was A-list AF.
The couple headed to New Orleans for their vows, surrounded by friends, family, and A-listers. People reports that guests included Ciara, LaLa Anthony, Kim Kardashian, Anna Wintour and Beyonce. According to the Daily Mail, the ceremony, which took place at the Contemporary Arts Center, was Beauty and the Beast themed.
Williams, 36, and Ohanian, 34, announced their engagement last December. The ceremony comes only 11 weeks after the birth of their daughter, Alexis, who they welcomed on September 1 in West Palm Beach. The tennis pro celebrated her upcoming vows with a swanky girls weekend in New York City earlier this month, hosted at the Baccarat Hotel & Residences. The weekend included five-star spa treatments, trapeze’ing, tea brunches and a whole lot of dancing.
Williams and Ohanian met in May of 2015 in Rome at the Cavalieri Hotel when Williams and her mini entourage sat down to have breakfast. When Ohanian came down to have breakfast too — despite the many other free tables — Williams admits she tried to get him to move.
“We were trying to get him to move and get out of there,” Williams recalled to Vanity Fair. And then, Serena said the first words ever to her future husband.
“We don’t want you sitting there. We’re going to use that table.” And when Williams’ friend told Ohanian there were rats by his table, the Reddit co-founder said, “I’m from Brooklyn. I see rats all the time.”
The rest, of course, is history. They next saw each other in Paris and had a six-hour date. Because the couple who invades others private space together, stays together.
