People travel from all points of Ottawa to pick up the Indian take-out at Indian Express Food & Sweets, a small, unassuming fast food business. It is a popular destination that boasts visits from many famous Ottawa personalities with a wall lining the back of the restaurant displaying hundreds of business cards. You may even catch an Ottawa policeman grabbing a bite in-between shifts.
I’m now in on the secret. This is the best Indian food I’ve had. The butter chicken was surprisingly not buttery or greasy. Just thinking about the rich earthy orange sauce over soft pulled chicken and Basmati rice makes my mouth water. Here, you’ll find the perfect concoction of garam masala, chili, turmeric, ginger, garlic and other secret dashes of spices. The naan on the side was warmed and perfect for soaking up any leftover sauce.
I predict I’ll be travelling to this express destination more in my future.
