Seth MacFarlane, Sutton Foster to join Boston Pops spring season

winslow townson

The Boston Pops have millennials in mind this spring with a new season of interactive and star-studded events we actually want to go to.

Seth MacFarlane, of “Family Guy” and “Ted” fame, is set to make his Pops debut, opening the season May 6 with a ’40-’50s American songbook review. Tony-winner/”Younger” star Sutton Foster will sing and dance her way through May 26 and 27, and “Dancing with the Stars” and “So You Thing You Can Dance” dancers will steal the stage May 7 and 8. And a tribute to late greats David Bowie and The Eagles’ Glenn Frey will be led by Boston guitarist Tom Scholz.

Foster is set to perform four shows with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra later this month, and says she’ll be dusting off her tap shoes for the occasion so there’s a chance she breaks them them out for Boston, too. Her “Younger” co-star/love interest Nico Tortorella will perform alongside at the Baltimore shows, but no word on whether he’ll be joining for the Pops, but we can dream.

Also returning, the mobile device-led “Pops on Demand” on May 25 and June 1 and 14, for a night of tunes chosen by the crowd and another epic night with John Williams and Keith Lockhart featuring pieces from the new “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” score on May 12 and 13.
