Darren Star is heading back to New York City. TV Land has picked up an order for his NY-set single-camera comedy “Younger,” starring Sutton Foster. Star is best known for creating “Sex and the City,” but has journeyed into dramedy land since then with his work on “Cashmere Mafia” and the updated “Melrose Place.”

The premise? Foster is a fortyish newly single mom who finds herself needing to head back into the work place, but running into some issues when people don’t think a woman her age should be applying for entry-level jobs. The solution? Pretend to be 26 again. The show is based on a novel by Pamela Redmond Satran.

Also starring will be Hilary Duff as her presumably oblivious twentysomething coworker and Debi Mazar as her best friend and young-person-makeover accomplice. Will Duff appreciate her dated cultural references? Will Foster pick up on Duff’s cool hipster slang? Probably not, but it’s a welcome return to TV for Foster, whose much-loved but underwatched “Bunheads” was canceled far too soon.

The show will premiere in the fall.
