Shakespeare festival a ‘no holds bard’ event

There’s much ado about all kinds of things at this year’s Freewill Shakespeare Festival.

The fest, running June 29 to July 25 in Hawrelak Park, brings its usual blend of comedy and tragedy to city audiences this summer.

Additionally, a series of Behind the Scenes tours and interaction with cast and crew. Camp Shakespeare also offers camp sessions for the thespians of tomorrow, with activities offered for young people aged 8-18.

There is also a Sunday brunch on July 18 and the No Holds Bard Gala July 24, giving fans a chance to mingle with the stars of this summer’s two shows, Macbeth and Much Ado About Nothing.

“It’s challenging and thrilling,” said Belinda Cornish, who has roles in both of this summer’s productions, when asked about working outdoors. “The weather does seem to respond to the plays.

“It’s a really good way to spend an evening.”
