When you say you’re “shopping for a good cause,” it usually means your closet.

This week, it can mean New Yorkers struggling with HIV and homelessness at Housing Works’ Fashion for Action benefit sale.

Taking place Nov. 16-18 at Housing Works’ Chelsea Thrift Shop (143 W. 17th St.), the annual fundraiser kicks their usual high-end shopping experience up a notch.

While Housing Works’ 12 shops reliably carry tons of gently used brand-name styles from cool New Yorkers like you, Fashion for Action fills the racks with more than $2 million worth of new clothing and accessories.

You’ll be shopping over 70 brands including Calvin Klein, Manolo Blahnik, Michael Kors, Opening Ceremony, Creatures of Comfort, Simon Miller and lots more, and every piece is between 50-70 percent off the retail price.

Be among the first to browse the racks — with champagne in hand and beats by DJ Louie XIV — with a ticket to opening night ($40). Doors open at 7:30 p.m., or go VIP ($100) and start the party with a cocktail reception at Freds in Barneys Downtown beginning at 5:30 p.m., then an exclusive shopping hour.

Fashion for Action continues through the weekend with free admission Nov. 17-18 from 10 a.m.-7 p.m.

There’s also an online Auction for Action going on through Nov. 21, where you can bid on experiences like a Bobbi Brown makeup master class and brunch with The Brunch Boys.

All purchases support Housing Works, which has been fighting HIV and homelessness in New York City and beyond for more than 25 years.
