Shots fired, apartment windows smashed on Pinecrest Drive

Halifax Regional Police found a car with a bullet hole in one of its windows shortly after shots were reported from north-end Dartmouth Thursday afternoon.

At first they couldn’t find any evidence of gunfire when they responded to an apartment building on the 100 block of Pinecrest Drive at about 2:40 p.m., but investigators stumbled upon the shot-up vehicle in a parking lot across the street almost two hours later.

Some of the windows at the apartment building were smashed out during what police are calling “a disturbance” and two or three male suspects managed to flee the scene. Officers had to keep students inside nearby John Martin Junior High School for about 20 minutes while they ensured the area was safe, police said.
