Single-vehicle crash kills 15-year-old boy

A 15-year-old student at East Rural High School has died from his injuries after a single vehicle car crash Friday night on Horne Road near Enfield.

According to Enfield RCMP, Jordan Wood died Saturday morning from his injuries.

Emergency personnel had to use the jaws of life to remove the boy from the vehicle. The accident took place around 11 p.m., and Wood was rushed to the QEII Health Sciences Centre.

The 17-year-old driver, also a student at the school, remains in critical condition in hospital.

“It was quite an impact at the scene,” said Sgt. Chris Bewscher of the Enfield RCMP. “It resulted in the driver being ejected from the vehicle. The 15-year-old who later died in hospital had to be taken from the vehicle.”

Grief counsellors were at the school yesterday to meet with students, along with the RCMP school liasion officer.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
