Sky loves to make vegetarian dishes

Singer/songwriter Amy Sky has penned dozens of hits for artists such as Diana Ross and Roch Voisine. She produced and co-wrote Olivia Newton-John’s latest release Grace & Gratitude. In April, Sky won a Canadian Smooth Jazz Award for Best Original Composition. Her latest CD Life Lessons: The Best Of Amy Sky is out now

Q: What is your fondest memory from your family kitchen?

A: Growing up with five siblings, I loved when all of us squeezed into the kitchen and ate dinner together.

Q: What kitchen aromas bring back fond memories?

A: The smell of the fresh cucumber salad my mother would make for my great grandmother, who lived with us.

Q: What is your favourite food to cook?

A: I like to make vegetarian dishes.

Q: How did the first meal you prepared turn out?

A: Great! It was Friday night dinner for my family and I used my mother’s recipes.

Q: What kitchen gadget can you not live without?

A: My Cuisinart.

Q: What rituals from your heritage involving food do you partake in?

A: Friday night dinners — the Jewish Sabbath.

Q: Is there a cultural dish that you prepare that ties into an event?

A: I prepare potato latkes at Hanukkah.
