Slow-motion video of New York City cop pepper-spraying protesters

This video, edited down to slow-motion to show details, depicts an NYPD
officer using pepper spray on “Occupy Wall Street” protesters on
Saturday as they marched near Union Square.

NYPD Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne confirmed to Metro that police used
pepper spray once, on protesters penned in by orange mesh police
barricades. The women appear unarmed when they are sprayed in the face
by cops, and scream in pain after the spray hits their eyes.

Browne defended the decision to use the spray: He said the women
confronted the officers and tried to prevent them from erecting the mesh
barrier.

Browne said he’s wary that protesters are editing video to make the police look bad.

“Pepper spray was used once after individuals confronted officers and
tried to prevent them from deploying a mesh barrier — something that
was edited out or otherwise not captured on the video,” he told Metro.

He also warned, “Those who resist arrest can expect some measure of force will used.”
