Staten Island Chuck was wrong.

Weeks since the groundhog predicted an early end to winter, the first day of spring felt more like a flashback to February as snow came down across New York City.

The National Weather Service reported a winter weather advisory through 2 a.m. Saturday as anywhere between 3 to 6 inches of snow are expected to fall Friday.

The combination of wet weather, which is expected to turn to rain and create potential ice conditions between midnight and 3 a.m, will pass by Saturday morning. Conditions will likely stay dry until closer to Wednesday evening.

The Sanitation Department announced it had 500 spreaders and 1,000 plows ready for the snowfall, but that trash and recycling pick-up service continued uninterrupted.

Unlike the February snowstorms, however, alternate side parking rules remained in effect.
