Gisele Bundchen’s history of rejection should make you feel better about yourself, right? Well, it probably doesn’t, what with her still being Gisele Bundchen and all, but still, dig this: The supermodel tells People that early in her career, it was a real struggle, OK? She was rejected an eerily specific 42 times before landing a Vogue cover in 1999.

“I remember some people telling me my nose was too big or my eyes were too small, that I could never be on a magazine cover,” she says. “It wasn’t easy to be 14 and hear that kind of criticism. It made me feel insecure.” What she doesn’t realize is that normal 14-year-olds are perfectly capable of feeling insecure all by themselves without someone saying they’re not quite beautiful enough for the cover. But thanks for trying to be relatable!
