Somerville Police don’t cluck around.

Many officers will tell you that their job is far from routine and that was just the case when police in Somerville were called to rescue a chicken in distress.

Police responded to Elm Street at about 7 p.m. Tuesday night for a chicken stuck in a snow bank adjacent to the employee parking lot of a nearby Shaw’s supermarket.

Officer Marc DiFava “bravely jumped into action and saved the chicken from certain peril,” police wrote on their website.

Metro reached out to Somerville Police to learn the fate of the chicken or if it had an owner. A message was not immediately returned.
