Sony’s Vita pushing for a comeback

Sony’s portable powerhouse, Vita, has been struggling to connect with consumers since its launch in February. Analysts blame this on smartphones and tablets, claiming there is just no room for dedicated gaming machines in this world. Fire those guys. The Vita just needs more games, and here they come.

‘LittleBigPlanet Vita’

Console: Sony

Grade: 5 (out-of-5)

To the uninitiated, this series is the crown jewel of DIY gaming. On the surface it’s a repetitive, yet charming, sidescrolling platform title. The fun really begins, however, once you dig deep into the incredible level- making mechanic. Making and playing user-created levels is so fun it just might make you barf (in a good way).

‘Sound Shapes’

Console: Sony

Grade: 4 (out-of-5)

“Sound Shapes” marries gorgeous, minimal design with a love and appreciation for music. Each level is based on a song, some crafted by luminaries such as Beck and deadmau5.

The game comes packed with a rudimentary, but useful, audio creation tool. Now you can finally design your dream stage, set to the tune of “Eye of the Tiger.”
