There’s been a lot of buzz about Chase Edmonds following the NFL Combine and his Pro Day. The number of heads he’s turned appears to be growing and for good reason as the Fordham star running back appears to be solidifying himself as one of the best at his position in next month’s NFL Draft.

That includes the local teams, both of which are showing strong interest in a player who is no longer under the radar.

Edmonds met with the New York Giants and the New York Jets at the Combine in formal interviews, a source tells Metro. In addition, the source confirmed that the New Orleans Saints hosted Edmonds last week in one of their ’30 visits,’ again, another strong indicator of a team’s interest in a player.

There’s plenty of reason to be beyond intrigued by a running back coming from a program that isn’t exactly replete with a history of sending players to the NFL. But there is every reason to believe that Edmonds can be that player to transition to the next level.

After rushing for over 1,800 yards his freshman year at Fordham, Edmonds continued to be one of the best athletes in all of the FCS. The Harrisburg, PA product might not be the biggest running back in college football but he is shifty and elusive.

He’s good in open spaces and a playmaker out of the backfield catching the ball. His showing at the NFL Combine backed up his game film.

In Indianapolis, Edmonds ran a 4.55 40-yard-dash time as well as putting up 19 repetitions on the 225-pound bench press, a number that answered some of the questions about his strength and ability to block. He had a Pro Day last week as well at Fordham where 19 NFL teams were in attendance with 25 total scouts watching his workout.

Edmonds remains an intriguing prospect due to his footwork and good hips that make him difficult to take down in the open field.

For the next few weeks, Edmonds will be training in New Jersey at TEST Football Academy in Martinsville, N.J. The facility has produced the likes of Patrick Peterson, Joe Flacco and Duron Harmon among others in the NFL.
