Jesse Marsch will be returning to coach the New York Red Bulls, shutting down stories that he is heading to Europe to take over Red Bull Salzburg.

League sources tell Metro that Marsch, head coach of New York, is currently on a flight to Los Angeles to join the coaching staff ahead of this week’s MLS SuperDraft. The source also confirmed that Marsch “will be the New York Red Bulls head coach in 2017.”

The source also confirmed that he “is under contract with New York for this upcoming season.”

Reports began to circulate on Tuesday that Marsch, who was meeting in Europe with Red Bull’s global soccer division, was primed to become the head coach of Red Bull Salzburg. Multiple media outlets cited sources claiming that this move was all but official.

But Marsch isn’t staying in Europe, and instead is headed back to the United States and to rejoin his coaching staff.

The 2015 MLS Coach of the Year, Marsch has a long history in MLS as a player and then head coach of the Montreal Impact during their inaugural season. Prior to that, he was an assistant coach with the United States national team under then head coach Bob Bradley.
