A rash of robberies continues in the Halifax Regional Municipality.
Halifax Regional Police reported three more robberies in a 46-minute period Sunday night.
That makes it 13 reported robberies by HRP since Thursday. Police have laid charges in seven of the incidents, including six towards one person for five robberies and one attempted robbery in the Quinpool Road area between Thursday night and early Sunday morning.
“There’s nothing to indicate why we all of sudden had a rash (of robberies) over the weekend,” Const. Brian Palmeter of HRP said Monday.
The first robbery Sunday night happened at 11:16 p.m. when a man was in the area of Spring Garden Road and Robie Street to meet someone who he had arranged to sell his iPod to through e-mail. Police say two suspects then approached the victim and demanded personal items and obtained some goods before fleeing on foot. The victim wasn’t injured.
Police say the suspects claimed to have a knife but it wasn’t seen. They are described as white males, around five-foot-nine with black hoodies on.
Ten minutes later on the 100 block of Ernest Avenue in Halifax, police say two black males entered a house, tied up the victim and then stole a game cube and computer before leaving the property. The victim wasn’t injured.
One of the suspects described by police as 5-10 was wearing a black bandana over his face.
Police say the other suspect was about six-foot-three. He was wearing a light hoodie and dark pants.
Finally at 12:12 a.m., police say two males stole a vehicle in the 100 block of Chipstone Close, but were involved in an accident when leaving the parking lot. The owner of the vehicle then came out and was assaulted by one of the suspects, police said. There were no injuries.
Police say the two suspects are white males, each around 6-0. One was wearing a grey hoodie and the other a dark sweater.
