The Red Sox are starting to get their money's worth with Adrian Gonzalez.

The big first basemen doubled in the winning runs last night, capping a stunning comeback in an 8-7 win over the Orioles in a rainy, half-full Fenway Park.

The team's performance was great (and they're now officially above .500). But let's focus on A-Gonz.

He's now leading the Sox in average (.327), home runs (nine) and RBIs (37). He's scored 27 runs and even stolen a base. And from the looks of it, he's just getting started. His May OPS (1.185) is 300 points better than his April number (.836), and he's hit eight of his homers this month.

As Gonzalez has heated up, so have the Sox. They're now just three games out of first in the AL East.

All that spells three letters from this desk: M-V-P.
