A look back at Sam Bradford’s bizarre offseason with the Eagles

Sam Bradford is back at the NovaCare Complex and is looking to put the past three months of drama behind him.

Whether Eagles fans will forgive his transgressions is yet an unknown, but for now Bradford and the Eagles need one another.

In a bizarre offseason, Bradford was the main story in the sports newscyclefor weeks and weeks. Here’s a look back at how the Eagles and Bradford got to this point.

March 1: The Eagles announced they had reached a deal with Sam Bradford on a three-year, $35 million contract with $22 million guaranteed.

March 7: The Eagles traded Byron Maxwell and Kiko Alonso to the Dolphins and swapped their No. 13 overall pick for Miami’s No. 8.

March 9: In an expected, yet surprising move the Eagles agreed on terms with former Doug Pederson backup Chase Daniel for the high price of $21 million for two seasons with $12 million guaranteed.

March 10: Pederson, in a press conference confirmed that the Eagles would NOT have an open competition between Daniel and Bradford, and that Bradford was the starter.

March 11: The Eagles traded Mark Sanchez to the Broncos for a conditional 2017 draft pick.

April 19-21: Bradford showedup and participated in Eagles voluntary minicamp.

April 21: Philly traded five draft picks, including No. 8 overall to the Cleveland Browns to move up to the No. 2 pick.

April 26: After it became apparent that the Eagles intended to take a quarterback at No. 2, Sam Bradford’s agent Tom Condon demanded Philadelphia trade Bradford — and said he would not appear at voluntary camps.

April 28: The Eagles selected quarterback Carson Wentz at No. 2 overall.

May 9: Bradford’s agent waived the white flag, rescindingthe trade demand and releasing the following statement on his behalf:“I’m excited to be back on the field today with my teammates and coaches. The business-side of football is sometimes a necessary consideration. My attention and efforts are focused on the participation in and preparation for a championship season: I am committed to my teammates and the Eagles organization for nothing less.”
