It’s sure to be a wild October in the Bronx.
The Yankees enter this year’s postseason as the AL wild card after an 8-4 loss to Boston yesterday cost them a shot at the AL East title. The Rays, who beat the Orioles, clinched the division crown and homefield advantage throughout the postseason.
That’s just fine with the Yankees, though, who start the AL Division Series against the Minnesota Twins, the same team they faced last year on the road to a World Series title.
“The goal is not to win the division,” manager Joe Girardi said. “The goal is to win the whole thing. We’re in a fine spot.”
