Adrian Gonzalez has been named the American League Player of the Month for June, Major League Baseball announced today.

The Red Sox first baseman hit .404 with eight doubles, two triples, six home runs and 25 RBIs over the course of the month. His .478 on-base percentage and .707 slugging ranked second in the league.

It's Gonzalez' first monthly honor, and the first for the Sox since David Ortiz' AL Player of the Month honor last May.

Toronto's Jose Bautista won the award this April and May.
