Sixers Notebook: Bynum update, Young injured

Denver Nuggets v Philadelphia 76ers

The news on Andrew Bynum appears to still be good. The injured center told reporters Monday that he expects to be back in February, although Bynum has yet to reveal an exact date. He has to go through a few full-contact practices before he will be cleared.

“Lots of running and the elliptical and weights, and basketball at the same time, so it’s good,” Bynum said.

Meanwhile, the Sixers are holding their breath on forward Thaddeus Young. He left Monday night’s game — a 78-61 win over Orlando, the Sixers’ third straight win — with a hamstring strain.

Young is expected to be sidelined for a couple games, with an MRI scheduled for Tuesday. Young was injured while diving and fighting on the floor for a loose ball.

“He lays himself out and, unfortunately, he got hurt on the play,” coach Doug Collins said.
