Angelo Cataldi: I was wrong about Ben Revere

OK, it’s time to admit a major mistake. I was wrong about Ben Revere, whose last two months have proven he can be an impact player in the big leagues.

In the same season I called Revere “a terrible baseball player,” he is challenging for the NL batting title. How dumb is that?

OtherIdle thoughts

  • Dom Brown is a terrible baseball player. (I never learn, do I?) Not only has Brown been a five-year disappointment on the Phils, but now he’s complaining about his playing time. There are reports that GM Ruben Amaro is hoping to unload the ingrate in the off-season. Duh.

  • Surveillance tapes surfaced yesterday of Ravens running back Ray Rice pummeling his then-girlfriend in a casino elevator with a quick left and then a stunning right fist to her face. If Roger Goodell saw this tape before his absurd two-game suspension of Rice, then the commissioner needs to resign immediately.

  • Donovan McNabb screamed during his No. 5 retirement ceremony that “I will always love you,” but his negative comments about Nick Foles last week prove that actually he is rooting hard against the Eagles. McNabb is the most insecure sports star in recent memory.

  • For the fans who just can’t get enough of ex-Eagles president Joe Banner, his musings are now available on Twitter @JoeBanner13. Last week, he ripped the media’s coverage of the Michael Sam story. Banner may be unemployable right now, but his mouth is still working overtime.
