After a convincing 8-1 victory in Game 3 of the ALCS over the Houston Astros to halve their series deficit, the Bronx bombers have all the momentum ahead of Game 4 on Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium, a place they haven’t lost at this postseason.
Sonny Gray will make his first start since Oct. 5, which was Game 1 of the ALDS against the Cleveland Indians. The trade-deadline acquisition lasted just 3.1 innings, allowing three runs on three hits while walking four.
He’ll be facing Lance McCullers Jr., who was used sparingly and as a reliever during Houston’s first seven postseason games.
McCullers was off to a hot start in 2017 after posting a 7-1 record with a 2.69 ERA. But back issues limited the second half of his season to just six starts where he posted an 8.23 ERA, obviously making this start a risky one for the Astros.
