Bart Scott gets in confrontation with reporter

Another fine could be coming for Jets linebacker Bart Scott.

Scott’s latest incident came when Jets Confidential editor Dan Leberfeld took a photo of Scott on his cell phone. Currently not talking to the media, Scott is angry with the coverage of the team and Leberfeld was chronicling a casual conversation between Scott and a reporter. On Wednesday, Leberfeld also took a picture of Scott engaged in a similar conversation but this time, the man known as the “Madbacker” for his outlandish comments fired back.

A brief exchange led to Scott getting in Leberfeld’s face and telling him, “I’ll kick the s— out of you.” Leberfeld responded, “Then I’ll sue you.”

A member of the Jets’ media relations stepped between the player and the reporter. Scott was then escorted out of the locker room.

Through a team spokesman, the Jets released a statement that said, “We work hard to foster an appropriate working environment. We regret this incident occurred and are reviewing the matter.”

In January, following the end of the season and the Jets’ failure to make the playoffs, Scott refused to talk to the media while cleaning out his locker. On the way out, nearly the same spot where he stood on Friday and confronted Leberfeld, Scott gave the finger to the photographers nearby, drawing a $10,000 fine from the league.
