Beckett, Sox fall to Orioles, 2-1

Josh Beckett had one of his better outings of the season, going eight innings and allowing just two earned runs on five hits and walking none. But the Sox righty received nothing in terms of run support as Boston fell to Baltimore, 2-1, at Fenway Park Wednesday night.

Old friend Robert Andino, who played a vital role in ending the Red Sox season last September, drove in Wilson Betemit in the sixth inning to tie the game at one. Ryan Flaherty scored later in the inning on a fielder’s choice to give the O’s the slight edge.

Will Middlebrooks had two hits for Boston but they were unable to solve Wei-Yin Chen (7.0 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 4 K 0 BB) for the majority of the night.
