With their early-morning trade for Tobias Harris, Boban Marjanovic and Mike Scott, the 76ers made themselves legit players to win the Eastern Conference.
They are now also just one Steph Curry or Kevin Durant ankle injury away from legitimately thinking about the NBA title.
Sportsbooks across the country certainly took notice of the deal. The day before the trade went down the Sixers had 16/1 odds of winning it all according to the Westgate Super Book. They trailed the Warriors (2/5), Celtics (8/1), Raptors (8/1), Rockets (12/1), Bucks (12/1) and even the Thunder (14/1).
Thanks to the impact Harris is expected to have, those odds skyrocketed to 10/1 as the Sixers leapfrogged all of those aforementioned teams except the Warriors and Celtics.
Some other sportsbooks did not think the move had that great of an impact as DraftKings Sportsbook tweeted out Wednesday afternoon, “In case you were wondering: The Sixers Futures odds to win either the Eastern Conference or NBA Championship have NOT changed.” DK has the Sixers at +275 to win the conference and +1400 to capture the Larry O’Brien Trophy.
William Hill had a slight change following the blockbuster deal as it moved from 17/1 to 15/1.
Now is a good time to hop on the Sixers as some sportsbooks will be slow to adjust. Take a look at this local bettor who took advantage of 19/1 Sixers odds this morning at Parx.
Sixers at 19/1 and I’m at parx. How do I not
