NHL Tuesday odds Canucks Flyers Coyotes Stars betting advice

MetroBet takes a glance at a pair of NHL games on the slate for Monday night.

Vancouver Canucks at Philadelphia Flyers

Moneyline: Canucks +130, Flyers -155

Puckline: Canucks +1.5 goals (-210), Flyers -1.5 goals (+170)

Betting Total: 6.0 goals (Over -105, Under -120)

The Philadelphia Flyers (23-23-6) have won seven straight contests, a streak that was unthinkable before mid-January, and are in position to make it eight straight wins when the Vancouver Canucks (24-22-6) come to the Wells Fargo Center on Monday night.

Philadelphia goaltending allowed two or fewer goals in four straight contests (despite being outshot in three of those four matches) before the Oilers struck four times on Saturday. But the Flyers’ forwards were up to the challenge, as captain Claude Giroux looked like his old self with a one-goal, two-assist outing, while Sean Couturier added a goal and an assist as well. Right winger Jakub Voracek added three assists (giving him nine total during Philly’s win streak) before sophomore center Nolan Patrick buried the game winner in overtime.

Vancouver has been outshot in five straight contests by a total of 47 on-goal attempts. For a Flyers team that’s struggled in that department too, this visitor is more than welcome. The Canucks have struggled with consistency of late, going 1-4 in their last five games following a win, per Covers.com. Furthermore, Vancouver is 13-40 in their last 53 tilts after scoring five or more goals in their previous game (they exit a 5-1 win over the Avalanche).

Canuck forwards Bo Horvat and Brock Boeser are both riding four-game point streaks, but the red-hot Flyers are tough to play against at the moment.

Prediction: Flyers win, 3-2

Phoenix Coyotes at Dallas Stars

Moneyline: Coyotes +165, Stars -190

Puckline: Coyotes +1.5 goals (-175), Stars -1.5 goals (+155)

Betting Total: 5.5 goals (Over +115, Under -135)

The Dallas Stars (27-21-4) are in search of their ninth straight win over the Arizona Coyotes (23-23-5) and fifth straight win overall. They look capable of continuing their momentum on Monday night, but considering their 7-19 record in their last 26 tries in the fourth game of a 4-in-6 situation (per Covers.com), a wager on the betting total looks like the smarter play.

Center Tyler Seguin has been producing for Dallas, registering four goals in as many games, but offense has been hard to come by for Arizona. The Coyotes’ leading points-earner, center Clayton Keller, has been earning his keep (three goals and six assists in January), but fellow forwards like Alex Galchenyuk and Christian Fischer have struggled mightily of late (one assist combined in their last five games). They’ll be hard-pressed to beat Ben Bishop, as the former All-Star netminder has a .963 save percentage over his last three starts. This game should stay safely below the total.

Prediction: Stars win, 3-1
