Update Jalen Ramsey Eagles now favorites Patriots

The Eagles are the favorite to land Jaguars star cornerback Jalen Ramsey, according to NBC Sports’ NFL reporter Peter King.

“If I were to put money right now, I’d put money on four teams in this order: the Eagles, the Chiefs, the Seahawks and the Ravens. In order,” King told WEEI’s Dale and Keefe Thursday. “And the reason I would do that is that there’s a commonality in each team. The person making the football decisions has guts and is willing to make a risky move. Howie Roseman with the Eagles, John Schneider with the Seahawks, Andy Reid with the Chiefs, New England’s own Eric DeCosta in Baltimore. Each team, I think, would be willing to give up a first round pick and more for Jalen Ramsey – which is what it’s going to take.

“For instance in Philadelphia, I could see the Eagles talking with Jacksonville and saying, ‘We’ll give you a 1 in 2020, a 3 in 2021, and Sidney Jones. He’s their underachieving second round pick from a couple of years ago.”

As for the Patriots interest in Ramsey, they might be willing to surrender that much in terms of compensation – but making the Pro Bowl cornerback fit under the cap would be nearly impossible. The Pats had to do some serious salary cap gymnastics in order to land Antonio Brown a few weeks back, and adding Ramsey – who is signed through next season – would prove to be highly difficult.
