Birds silenced by Cards, Kolb gets better of Vick

Arizona’s Larry Fitzgerald goes off on Eagles defense.

There was no miracle finish this time. The Eagles came out flat against an aggressive, hungry, attacking Cardinals defense and saw their two-game winning streak end, 27-6, in the desert. Kevin Kolb (17-of-24, 222 yards, 2 TDs) outdueled Mike Vick (17-of-37, 217 yards, 0 TDs) as the Eagles look to get back on track next Sunday.

What went wrong

The game plan

After calling one of the most balanced games of his coaching career a week ago, Andy Reid dialed up the pass heavy and hard in Arizona. The Eagles called 26 passes and five runs in the first half as Arizona jumped out to a 24-0 lead. When the Birds finally got down to the 1-yard line right before halftime, they went pass, pass, pass before Mike Vick was popped and fumbled. Reid fixed the run-pass ratio in the second half, but it was way too little, way too late.

No answer for Fitz

Not many teams can stop Larry Fitzgerald, but the Eagles have two of the best corners in the game and had a full week to prepare. Nothing. Fizgerald lined up all over the place -- left, right, slot - and racked up 105 yards in the first half alone, or almost as much as the entire Eagles' offense (139). Nnamdi Asomugha and Kurt Coleman were arguing over who should have guarded him on his first TD.

Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers

It's been written about, talked about, asked about ad nauseam but they are still doing it. The Eagles turned the ball over three more times, giving them 12 in three games.
