Bobby Valentine on the 8th of his 9 lives

How low can they go?

At this point for the Red Sox, grabbing two or three wins in the month of September will be a tall task.

Yesterday, it seemed as though the firing of manager Bobby Valentine was imminent. Valentine had breakfast with team owner John Henry in Seattle and it was originally concluded by the masses that Bobby V. was having his last meal as field boss of the Sox. Later in the day, however, Henry told the Boston Herald that he was “resolute” in keeping Valentine as Boston manager for the remainder of the 2012 season.

The goodwill that was bought by the Boston front office for ridding the payroll of three giant contracts was certainly old news by last night, as the Red Sox had lost seven consecutive games for the first time since 2001.
