Buchholz, Red Sox edge Rangers

Clay Buchholz shut down Texas’ powerful lineup Tuesday night, hurling seven innings while allowing four hits and one earned run as Boston (49-49) beat the Rangers in Arlington, 2-1.

Mike Aviles broke a 1-1 tie in the ninth with an RBI single to left that plated Daniel Nava.

Kelly Shoppach drove in the first Boston run in the fourth with a double.

Alfredo Aceves, dripping with sweat in the hot Texas night, closed out Texas for his 21st save of the season.
