The Celtics dealt longterm project Fab Melo to the Memphis Grizzlies Thursday in exchange for forward Donte Greene.
Melo intrigued many Celtics fans, given his 7-foot frame and his high-profile collegiate career at Syracuse, but the big man appeared in just six games for Boston in his rookie year. The 2012 draft pick spent most of his time in the NBADL, averaging 9.8 ppg, 6.0 rpg and 3.1 bpg for the Maine Red Claws.
Greene, a 6-foot-11 forward, joins a Celtics team in major transition. He has averaged 6.1 points and 2.4 rebounds per game in 253 games played in his five-year NBA career.
