Celtics fall to Grizzlies on Thanksgiving Eve

After a three-game road trip the Celtics returned home riding a two-game winning streak, but they couldn't keep the momentum going as they fell to the Memphis Grizzlies 100-93 Wednesday night at TD Garden.

Memphis came out strong in the opening quarter and led 27-13 after one, but despite a furious fourth quarter come back, the Grizzlies were able to hold on for a seven-point win. Jeff Green and Jared Sullinger led the Celtics with 26 and 23 points respectively in the loss, while Avery Bradley added 16.

The Grizzlies were led by Jerryd Bayless who had 22 points off the bench.

The Celtics will be off on Thanksgiving before returning to action Friday night (7:30, CSNNE) back home against Cleveland.

What they'll be saying: Once again despite the loss the Celtics showed resiliency coming back from a 19-point first half deficit. Unlike in the previous games the Celtics didn't get balanced scoring, as well as a strong performance from their bench. Of their 93 points just 17 came from the bench. The Celtics have a good chance to get back on the winning track Friday as the Cavs enter the game with a 4-11 record.
