The Celtics began the second half of their 2012-13 campaign with a 97-90 loss to the Nuggets in Denver Tuesday night. Denver outscored Boston 29-20 in the third quarter and were led by Ty Lawson and Danilo Gallinari, who each posted 26 points.
The loss spoiled a fine offensive effort by Jeff Green who totaled 20 points in 33 minutes.
What they'll be saying: The game on the floor was overshadowed by the games going on in NBA front offices across the league as more Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce trade rumors popped up. Yahoo! Sports reported Tuesday night that the Clippers have halted talks with the C's on a Garnett deal but that the Celtics were still very interested in landing DeAndre Jordan and Eric Bledsoe. Pierce's name was also mentioned in the report as a trade to Atlanta involving Josh Smith is also a possibility.
