Celtics routed by Knicks in short-handed affair

Both teams were missing key players with the Celtics without Rajon Rondo and Avery Bradley, while the Knicks missing Amar'e Stoudemire and Tyson Chandler, but even without them the Knicks blew out the C's 116-92 at TD Garden, a game the C's trailed by as many as 20 points at one point.

The C's were never in this one as they trailed 36-24 after one and 68-48 at the half. Jeff Green led the Celtics finishing with 27 points in the loss, while Kris Humphries and Jerryd Bayless each had 15.

Carmelo Anthony paced the Knicks recording a game-high 34 points in the win.

The Celtics will return to the court Friday night (7:30, CSNNE) when the Suns invade TD Garden.

What they'll be saying: The C's once again allowed an opponent to shoot over 50 percent in a loss as the Knicks shot 53 percent from the field, including 58 percent from three-point range. The Celtics were also badly out-rebounded as the Knicks finished with 35 to the C's 22. At 22-43 the C's sit alone with the fourth-to-worst record in the league.
