Celtics thumped by Lakers, 113-99

The Lakers (26-29) jumped out to a 36-27 advantage after one quarter and never looked back as they beat the Celtics (28-26), 113-99, Wednesday night at STAPLES Center.

Dwight Howard has one of his finest games as a member of the Lakers as he poured in 24 points and snatched 12 rebounds. Paul Pierce led the C’s with 26 points and Courtney Lee posted 20.

What they’ll be saying: The Celtics’ night was summed up by Doc Rivers who displayed a sarcastic, Hall-of-Fame-worthy double eye-brow raise and roll in the fourth quarter after the newly acquired Terrence Williams went behind his back after picking up his dribble and was called for a walk. Rivers also received a technical foul in a frustrating night for Boston. The All-Star break seems to have stalled all momentum the C’s had following the Rajon Rondo injury.
