But a report by Boston Globe reporter Nick Cafardo said that “Hamels, according to a source close to him, would be open to a deal with the Red Sox.”
The Globe story, and others in Philadelphia papers have highlighted the multitude of Phillies scouts who have been attending Red Sox organization games. The move, which would have to take place during the offseason, would be a clear sign that the Phillies are willing to blow things up to rebuild.
Possible Boston targets include infielder Xander Bogaerts, centerfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. and catcher Christian Vasquez.
