Boston College's stranglehold on the position of college hockey's finest program continued Saturday night as the Eagles won their third NCAA National Championship in five years with a 4-1 victory over Ferris State in Tampa, Fla.
BC has also won national titles in 1949, 2001, 2008 and 2010.
Freshman Johnny Gaudreau proved to be the hero Saturday night for the Eagles as he found the net on a backhand with three minutes remaining in the third period. The goal gave the Eagles separation from Ferris State, which trailed 2-1 for most of the game.
Steven Whitney tallied BC's first goal of the evening. Parker Milner was once again fantastic in net for the Eagles as he recorded 27 saves.
