The quarterfinals of the Coppa Italia continue this afternoon when AS Roma visits Fiorentina at 12:10 p.m. ET at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. These teams had a 1-1 draw the last time they played each other back on Nov. 3.
Fiorentina comes into today’s contest with a 7-9-5 record and 30 points. Fiorentina seems to have picked up their play at just the right time. They have accumulated eight points in their last five matches but are still ninth in the Italian Serie A standings.
They are just three points back of Sampdoria for the final Europa spot and are five points back of the Champions League.
Fiorentina last played a Coppa Italia match back on Jan. 13 where they won 2-0 over Torino in the Round of 16. Forward, Federico Chiesa scored both goals for Fiorentina in the 87th minute and in the second minute of stoppage time.
AS Roma is fifth in the Italian Serie A standings with a 9-7-5 record and 34 points on the season. They have been able to rack up 10 points in their last five contests, but they still trail AC Milan by just one point for the Champions League.
In their last Coppa Italia contest, they won 4-0 in the Round of 16 over Virtus Entella back on Jan. 14. Iván Marcano and Javier Pastore each found the back of the net. Patrik Schick netted two goals of his own to help Roma advance to the quarterfinals.
