Dear Maple Leafs fans, welcome to the Stanley Cup playoffs

Metro News Canada – Toronto will have its response ahead of Wednesday’s Bruins-Maple Leafs series opener:

Welcome back to the postseason, Leafs fans! It’s been nine long years, and, quite frankly, we were beginning to worry that your team relocated to Arizona or southern California at some point in the past decade.

In case you haven’t been paying attention to the NHL postseason in the past few years, we should remind you that we won the Cup just two years ago and have one of the best young hockey foundations in the league. Here are three more reasons why you should be intimidated by the Black & Gold:

1. “Thank-you-Kes-sel!”
This chant replaced, “Let’s-go-Red-Sox!” as Boston’s favorite long ago. The trade that sent winger Phil Kessel your way in 2009 was arguably the top transaction in Bruins history as we acquired two of the most talented young players in the NHL in Tyler Seguin and Dougie Hamilton, courtesy of our best bud Brian Burke.

2. Recent history
The Bruins beat your Leafs three of four times this year and you have just that one victory over the B’s since March 31, 2011.

3. Boston doesn’t lose
Hockey is huge in Boston but unlike you moose-lovers, we have other sports interests. The Patriots have won three Super Bowl titles, the Red Sox have won two World Series titles and the Celtics have won an NBA title since the year 2000 (aka the 33rd year of your now nearly five decade-old Stanley Cup drought).
