Dethroned:?Celts bounce Cavaliers

The Celtics aren’t the kings of the Eastern Conference yet. But they’re one step closer.

Boston finished their stunning destruction of the Cavaliers on Thursday, taking the decisive Game 6, 94-85. With the win, the C’s move on to the conference finals, where they’ll meet the Orlando Magic.

Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo led the way for the Celtics on both ends of the court. Garnett, guarded by Shaquille O’Neal for the majority of the game, finished with 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Rondo added 21 points and 12 assists, setting the pace throughout. Paul Pierce scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half.

LeBron James tallied 27 points, 19 rebounds and 10 assists in the loss, but his eight turnovers out of the Cavs’ total of 21 may tell the real story. Cleveland appeared to check out entirely late, failing to foul in the final minute.

Game 1 in Orlando is set for Sunday at 3:30 p.m. (ABC, WEEI). The Magic have yet to lose in the playoffs, sweeping the Bobcats and Hawks. The Celtics were 1-3 against the Magic in the regular season.
