Dustin Pedroia: AL Player of the Month for July

Once again, the Red Sox take home monthly honors.

For the second time in as many months, the AL Player of the Month was a member of the Red Sox.

Dustin Pedroia was awarded the July honor today, capping a 26-game stretch that saw him hit .411 with nine doubles, one triple, eight home runs, 22 RBIs and 27 runs.

Adrian Gonzalez was the AL's best player in June.

Pedroia's 46 July hits were the most by a Boston player since 1939, when Bobby Doerr, Ted Williams and Jimmy Foxx each collected more.

The award continues an impressive streak for the AL East. The last time a player from the AL Central or West won the monthly trophy outright was June 2010, when Texas' Josh Hamilton took it home. Minnesota's Delmon Young shared the honor with Toronto's Jose Bautista last July.

Since then, AL East players have won six straight monthly awards.
