Brent Celek wasn't the one driving the car early Thursday morning, yet the Eagles tight end was quick to point out that he made a mistake being in that position.
Celek, who was celebrating his 27th birthday with friends, was in the passenger's seat when the car spun out and hit a concrete barrier at the Packer Ave. off-ramp near Lincoln Financial Field at around 2:30 a.m. Police said the driver was driving too fast and was arrested on DUI charges after failing a field sobriety test. Celek is unharmed and hasn't been charged with any wrongdoing.
"I did not know that the person driving the car was over the legal limit, but that's not an excuse. I put my life in danger and was in a vehicle that put other people's lives in danger, and that's just not the way I operate. It will not happen again," Celek said in the statement.
