It is that time once again football fans! The NFL preseason is underway and fantasy football drafts are starting to take shape.
Over the next few weeks, there will be numerous drafts held as fantasy football owners prepare for another exciting NFL season. When it comes to drafting, many owners are focused on who they are getting in the first round and outsmarting their opponents in finding that sleeper player to help put them over the top.
Thankfully, here at the Metro, we will able to help you find those sleeper players in the later rounds that your friends may not be thinking about.
Some of these guys on this list you may be familiar with, while others are on the verge of becoming playmakers on Sundays.
Here are 10 fantasy football sleepers that you should consider drafting:
1. Eagles RB Corey Clement – Now in his second season, Clement should see an even bigger role in the Eagles’ offense. Clement, who was an undrafted free agent last season, helped the Eagles in their quest to winning Super Bowl LII.
With Darren Sproles on the shelf, Clement filled the void admirably, racking up 493 all-purpose yards and six touchdowns in the regular season.
In terms of fantasy, Clement only accumulated 82.4 points and had two big games in which he scored over 10 points. (13.00 against Dallas, 24.60 against Denver).
2018 Fantasy Projections: 376 rushing yards, 4 rushing TD’s, 24 receptions, 219 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD, 87 fantasy points
2. Ravens WR John Brown – Brown could be due for a comeback year, after dealing with numerous injuries and sickle cell trait last season. The speedy wideout will be playing opposite Michael Crabtree in the Ravens’ offense and has reportedly impressed their coaching staff.
If Brown could return close to his 2015 performance, where he posted 65 receptions for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns that would be huge for Baltimore. During that season in fantasy, he had 142.5 points and five games of 10 points or more.
2018 Fantasy Projections: 41 receptions, 544 receiving yards, 3 receiving TD’s, 74 fantasy points
3. Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin – Sticking with the theme of wide receiver, Chris Godwin could be due for a breakout season with Tampa Bay. DeSean Jackson is getting older and reportedly working more in the slot, opening the door for Godwin to start on the outside, opposite of Mike Evans.
Last season, Godwin only had 34 receptions for 525 yards and a touchdown. However, expect those numbers to go up this season.
2018 Fantasy Projections: 42 receptions, 588 receiving yards, 3 TD’s, 75 fantasy points
4. Cardinals RB Chase Edmonds – The Cardinals might’ve found a reliable backup running back to star David Johnson. Edmonds made some noise in Week 1 of the preseason with a tough short-yardage touchdown.
Despite his size, Edmonds had a productive collegiate career at Fordham University as a dual-threat running back. The rookie would be a great FLEX option in some fantasy leagues and worth using a late-round pick on to stash on your bench.
2018 Fantasy Projections: 228 rushing yards, 2 rushing TD’s, 19 receptions, 146 receiving yards, 47 fantasy points
5. Chargers WR Tyrell Williams – In San Diego, there is a lot of attention on Keenan Allen and rightfully so, when healthy he is one of the better WRs in the NFL and fantasy football monster. However, his teammate, Tyrell Williams is just as good.
Last season, Williams had 43 receptions for 728 yards and four touchdowns. Fantasy wise, he had 94.8 points, including three games of 10 points or more, in the Chargers’ last six games.
With tight end Hunter Henry done for the season, expect the Chargers to use more three wide receiver sets, getting Williams on the field more.
2018 Fantasy Projections: 46 receptions, 697 receiving yards, 5 TD’s, 95 fantasy points
